Lenten Fasting
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the 40 days of preparation for the Easter season when Christians are called to renew their commitments to spiritual practices like Fasting, Prayer, and Almsgiving. The season is intended as a time for personal conversion leading up to Easter. The belief is that our consistent participation in these practices — like exercise we do for our physical health — is a form of purification that improves our spiritual well-being by stripping away all that is unnecessary and by becoming more mindful of our ultimate dependence on God in our lives. Lent is an annual opportunity to grow in our faith, which means it’s about much more than giving up unhealthy foods or treats, as you may have done when you were a kid. It is about abstaining from whatever is unhealthy in our lives — gossip, laziness, lack of social conscience — and, most importantly, taking concrete steps to do something more. Challenge yourself this year, and go beyond the clichés of “giving up” something. Now is a great time to take stock of your spiritual life, and to grow in it.
Our Lenten fasts have a tendency to be oriented or even limited toward things like giving up food or TV. Instead of just giving up sweets or TV, we are going to add a few more ideas that we can focus on during 40 days before Easter.
Each Wednesday of each week leading up to Easter we will abstain from meals from 6am to 6pm each week. Lent starts on March 5th – April 19th, 2014
1. Fast from anger and hatred. Give your family that extra dose of love.
2. Fast from division. Strive to be in unity with everyone.
3. Fast from judging others. Before making any judgments, remember how Jesus overlooks our faults.
4. Fast from low self-esteem, pessimism, and negativity. Be positive in your outlook on life.
5. Fast from discouragement. Let’s have hope in all that we do.
6. Fast from personal anxiety, fear, and worry. Jesus is watching over our lives. Put your trust in him.
7. Fast from lethargy. Have enthusiasm for life.
8. Fast from the problems that overwhelm your life and wear you down. Pray and ask Jesus for help.
9. Fast from complaining. When you’re about to complain, try to appreciate all the moments of joy.
10. Fast from too much self-concern. Put yourself in the shoes of other people.
11. Fast from any resentments or bitterness. Forgive those who have hurt your life.
12. Fast from conversations that are negative or filled with gossip. Encourage one another.
13. Fast from spending too much money. Reduce your spending by 10% and have your
family give the savings to the poor. “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— Isaiah 58:6-7
14. Fast from too much of the world. In Lent, give extra time to Jesus.

Wisdom
(A Note from the Apostle’s Desk)
Hello Saints of God,
It is the Spirit of God that connects us to the wisdom of God, and the Wisdom of God is getting ready to explode in witty inventions. Get Ready! The forces of wisdom will burst forth in your life, bringing heavy innovations! This wisdom is creative in nature, and I pray now that you will have the ability to form and reform, create and re-create, do and undo.
It is time for the Church to manifest the wisdom of God. We should be the problem solvers for this end-time. We were not created to run from problems; we run to them. Why? Because we have an answer to every problem in the world. Light does not run from darkness, but the other way around. We are “problem chasers.” God has sent us into the world- which by the way is full of problems, but we have an answer to every problem.
As many of you may recall from the Old Testament, Daniel and the three Hebrew boys along with the king of Judah and the Israelites, were taken into captivity by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
“And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand” (Daniel 1:2). A short time later, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that troubled him. All the wizards, astrologers, and magicians on his staff could not give him the interpretation of that dream. “For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon” (Daniel 2:12).
Earlier in Daniel 1:20 God releases to the believers how He had already given Daniel and his three companions, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, wisdom, “And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm” (Daniel 1:20), they had to a ask God for wisdom to solve this particular challenge.
Every challenge and battle you are faced with today requires wisdom to overcome it. The Bible says, “It pleased the Lord that Solomon asked for wisdom, rather than asking for things.”
There is no situation that you can get into that God cannot get you out of. There is nothing that you need to get into that God does not have a plan to get you there. I believe what I am writing in this letter is a prophetic picture of what we are moving into as the Church.
Paul saw and wrote about having “…(the) many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known .” (Ephesians 3:10; AMP)
Daniel through wisdom took over in the kingdom of Babylon. Now is the time for the Church to no longer take sides, but to TAKE OVER. How? Through divine wisdom.
Lisa and I are so grateful for your labor of love. We pray that the grace, ability, and goodness that God has placed on us….rest upon you, in Jesus Name.
Again, thank you and may your 2013 be the best year ever. We love you! Keep possessing the keys of the Kingdom of heaven.
Working together,
Apostle C.E. Lewis, Sr., D.Min.

Planting Your Seed
(A Note from Apostle Charles E. Lewis)
Hello Saints of God,
It’s time to plant our seeds for our Resurrection harvest.
FAITH TURNS THINGS INTO A MATERIAL REALITY:
Jesus teaches on “Faith as a Servant” in Luke’s Gospel, chapter seventeen.
Luke 17:5 (Amplified Translation)
“The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith (that trust and confidence that spring from our belief in God)”
Luke 17:6-10
The Lord answered, “If you had faith as big as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Pull yourself up by the roots and plant yourself in the sea!’ and it would obey you.
“Suppose one of you has a servant who is plowing or looking after the sheep. When he comes in from the field, do you tell him to hurry along and eat his meal?
Of course not! Instead, you say to him, ‘Get my supper ready, then put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may have your meal.’
The servant does not deserve thanks for obeying orders, does he?
It is the same with you; when you have done all you have been told to do, say, ‘We are ordinary servants; we have only done our duty.’ “

During our New Year’s Eve service everyone received a packet of seeds to plant on February 1st. Well, the date for planting is here. We will place our seed in a cup or pot in our homes or work so we can give it the attention needed to grow. Then on Resurrection Sunday we will bring our beautiful plant with us so that we may plant it with our brothers and sisters at church.
Our faith does not start out fully grown of fully developed. You receive the Word of God as mother would conceive a child. Then the word of God grows inside of you like a child grows inside its mother’s womb. Faith grows and develops in the womb of your spirit (the unseen). Eventually there will be a manifestation when faith is released to work and change things that are seen. PRAISE GOD!
When we plant our seed we must name it and start using our faith. THINK BIG.
Jesus teaches that we shouldn’t allow faith to rest until our work here is done and all our assignments are completed. We will attend to the physical seed by watering and ensuring proper sunlight is received on a daily basis. The same holds true for attending to our spiritual faith, by praying, reading, fasting, and meditating on the word on a daily basis.
I declare that from this day you will use your faith like never before, not only to possess your inheritance of your seed, but to lift the curse off the whole city and community where we live. Don’t dare to set on your faith, but LET FAITH WORK and do for you what it has been sent to do…to serve you until your work here on this planet is done.
Lisa and I thank God for you and deeply appreciate your prayers and your support. Your faithfulness has helped to the uttermost parts of the earth with the gospel, making a difference in lives.
We fervently pray for you and agree with you for speedy growth on your seed. Again, thank you. We love you and may your faith continue to grow and my this planting of a real seed allow you to see your faith grow exceedingly.
We love you, and “Keep Walking by Faith”
Apostle C. E. Lewis, Sr., D.Min.
